Cornwall Symphony Chorus is pleased to announce it is supporting the Tregothnan Estate in their Open Garden weekend on the 21st and 22nd April where they hope to break last year’s £50k charity fundraising collection. Our members will be singing on Saturday 21st, all to help raise funds for the Merlin MS Centre near St Austell. 10 Year Anniversary Concert

Posted on Updated on

The most important Concert of 2018 is our long awaited event at Truro Cathedral; ‘Voices in Harmony – A Musical Celebration’.

As the title suggests, this Concert is a celebration of Cornwall Symphony Chorus’ 10 years of singing and performing together. It has also been made extra special by our two Vice Presidents, John Treleaven and Alan Opie, who have enthusiastically agreed to join us for this commemorative occasion.

They last sung together 35 years ago and, as Cornish lads, they are just as excited about performing together again, as we are to have them both joining us here in Cornwall for this significant event.

Do not miss this unique opportunity as this truly promises to be a musical celebration of ‘Voices in Harmony’.

Tickets can be purchased at The Hall for Cornwall – go to www.hallforcornwall.co.uk for further details.

BIRTHDAY INVITATION

Posted on Updated on

2018 commences the 10th birthday of Cornwall Symphony Chorus. To celebrate this exciting occasion, a selection of very special events has been planned including a uniquely significant Concert at Truro Cathedral.

This is a very exciting time for Chorus members, all of whom have worked extremely hard in the last 10 years to attain the immensely high musical standard that Cornwall Symphony Chorus is recognised for and continues to meet. Due mostly to the musical talents, commitment and dedication of all members, the size of the Chorus also impacts on our audience wherever we perform.

Maintaining that standard is hard work and we are always looking for new members to contribute to our success so, in preparation for our celebratory year, we would love to invite new members to come along and join the party! If you attend one of our rehearsals held on the 1st and 3rd Sundays of each month at Redruth School starting at 2.30pm, you can see what happens at a rehearsal, meet the team, and even join in if you feel like it!

If you would like to find out more about joining our friendly and highly praised choir please read our FAQs page (in the members join us section).

SUCCESSFUL FUNDRAISER

Posted on Updated on

We would like to give a huge ‘thank you’ to one of our Chorus members; Christine Jones, for opening her home and garden to host a fundraising event for Chorus funds on Sunday 10th September.
The wonderful Bar-B-Que was sponsored and cooked by Christine’s’ son and other attractions included fabulous cream teas, Bric-a-Brac, beautiful garden planters, raffle and auction.

The event was enjoyed by Chorus members and their families and raised over £700 – amazing!

Many thanks Christine, to you and your family, for all your hard work and for being such a warm host. Also thanks to Chorus members who supported the event with their donations, assistance and attendance on the day.

Another wonderful concert!

Saturday evening’s concert at St Johns Methodist Church, St Austell was well received by all those who attended. Our latest offering, including several new pieces, alongside the exciting and professional offering by St Austell Youth Band, produced enthusiastic applause as well as, at times, participation by the audience.

The venue was new to Cornwall Symphony Chorus but was well loved by all – singers, musicians and audience alike. We hope to be able to perform there again in the future.

For anyone who was not able to join us at this recent concert don’t worry. Our next creation will be on Saturday, 5th August in Newquay at St Michael’s Church. Our guest for that evening will be the exceptionally talented singer/songwriter Chris Bannister who always commands a high turnout so ensure you get your tickets early! Tickets aren’t quite ready yet but watch this space!
