Another wonderful Concert was recently held at St Michaels Church, Newquay. It is a wonderful venue to perform in and the sound was stupendous resulting in a few tears when the Chorus performed ‘Anthem’.
Directed and compered by Alastair Taylor and accompanied by Philip Davey, Jack Callow and Tania Lord, with guest local soloists; Tara Woollacott and Roxanne Dash, the evening was well received by the audience with numerous extremely positive comments at the finale. “It was the best classical concert I have ever been to” one gentleman said and another visitor from Denmark, who was drawn in after hearing the singing from outside the church and decided to stay for the concert commented that he had never heard such beautiful singing before and that it was the highlight of his trip. Praise indeed.
The retiring collection was for Cornwall Air Ambulance and we are pleased to confirm that a total of £204.91 was collected which will be added to the £1.7million already raised for the new Heli Appeal. Many thanks to everyone who contributed to this worthwhile fund.
Cornwall Symphony Chorus never fail to reach the standard required to be considered a prestigious choir of reputable standing and this concert was certainly no exception.
Rehearsals are now under way for our famous Christmas Concert which will be held at Truro Methodist Church on Saturday 7th December. Further information regarding ticket sales will be advertised nearer the date.
