Our first Christmas concert in two years was met with enthusiasm and much applause with comments including “I don’t know how you do it, but it gets better every time” and “We have waited such a long time for your Christmas Concert and it was well worth waiting for”. Everyone was in good voice, including our guests; The Celtic Male Ensemble – always a joy to listen to.
Sadly, for one of our accompanists; Roger Wills, this concert was tinged with sadness as it was his last event due to retirement. We made a fuss of him on the night but we will sadly miss him as he has been accompanying us at our concerts for many years. We wish him a happy retirement and hope to see him sitting in the audience at future concerts!
Our retiring collection this year was for MND Association and I am pleased to say that the collection, plus a donation from the proceeds of the Cornwall Symphony Chorus raffle meant that £1000 has been given to the extremely worthwhile charity. Congratulations to everyone who purchased raffle tickets or donated to the retiring collection; this is made possible because of you all.
Plans are already in place for our next big concert in July of next year where the well-known ‘Go Compare’ man; Wynne Evans, will be our guest for the evening. We are really looking forward to that Concert and early next year we will be sharing more information with you all about tickets.
If you’re thinking that you might like to get more involved by singing with us at that concert, then we would welcome the addition of new members. We rehearse on the 1st and 3rd Sundays in the Jubilee Hall at Redruth Methodist Church at 2.30pm and will be starting early in 2022 with the first rehearsal on the 2nd January as we have a full programme to learn before July. If you’re unsure, just come along and listen first. Further information can be obtained by calling or emailing our Secretary; Jill Johnson on 07821 655083 or email@example.com.
In the meantime, the Cornwall Symphony Chorus would like to wish everyone a Happy Christmas and Peaceful New Year.
